A Message from the Academic Director

Since its establishment in 1789, Georgetown University has been committed to the value-based practice and tradition of educating and caring for the entire person, a concept known as cura personalis. Our 230-year legacy is founded on academic excellence, as well as supporting and serving others toward fostering a community that can lead through these paradigm principles. It is in this context that we also are building on our profoundly regarded shared history with the State of Qatar in educating and developing future leaders consistent with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and Georgetown’s value system Cura Personalis.

I am honored and delighted by the fact that Georgetown University’s world-renowned McDonough School of Business in partnership with the Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) has successfully and productively been delivering the Executive Master’s in Leadership program in Doha since 2018.

The Executive Master’s in Leadership – Qatar (EML-Q) is a cutting-edge graduate degree program uniquely customized to prepare and develop future Qatari professional leaders to address important local and global issues, challenges, and opportunities facing business and society. Our participants are high-achieving and dedicated professionals across diverse industries and sectors in business and in government.

Effective leaders recognize that their decisions in an uncertain, yet interconnected, global economy have wide-ranging implications and that non-market factors affect the economic and political success of business and government undertakings at a global level across various industries. The EML-Q program instills that enduring success transcends creating shareholder value and that principled leadership in the context of “being good by doing good” is not just a statement about support but about the current and future opportunity distribution within society.  

I am elated by our progress and look forward to a long-lasting relationship with our exceptional partners at the Qatar Leadership Centre, our talented and impressive alumni, our remarkable students, and our esteemed colleagues and honorable friends in leadership positions in the nation of Qatar. Our partnership is embedded in a deep-rooted understanding that our combined knowledge and capability are a source of value and strength for the good of the world.
