Georgetown EML Attracts Diverse Class of Experienced Leaders
The incoming Executive Master’s in Leadership students began their studies at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in June surrounded by a diverse set of peers with senior-level leadership experience across a variety of industries and functions.
“The secret to the success of our Executive Master’s in Leadership is the combination of a diverse peer group and the quality of the teaching and curriculum,” said Nita Swinsick, assistant dean for Executive Degree Admissions. “The experiences and perspectives students bring to the classroom discussions and projects adds to the richness of the program.”
The Class of 2022 is composed of 40% underrepresented U.S. minority students, 35% women, and 45% with military experience. With an average age of 41, the class has an average of 19 years of work experience, 15 of which are in managerial roles. A total of 10% hold c-suite positions, while 5% are vice presidents, and 25% are directors. They also are highly educated, with 35% already holding an advanced degree.
They represent a variety of industries, including government (35%); education (20%); telecommunications (10%); consumer goods and retail (10%); and consulting, manufacturing, nonprofit/social impact, and transportation (5% each).
The Executive Master’s in Leadership program prepares students to be principled leaders prepared to make research-based, evidence-backed decisions when confronted with complex problems for themselves, their organizations, and their communities.
