Georgetown and Florida International University Partner on Custom International Business and Policy Program
Georgetown McDonough’s Executive Custom Programs has partnered with Florida International University’s College of Business (FIU Business) to deliver a specialized International Business and Public Policy Program.
The five-day program is designed to provide executives and other professionals with the tools they need to navigate the influence and impact of U.S. governmental policies, programs, and regulations on the private sector.
“In a time of increased government involvement in business and competitiveness issues, it is vital to grasp the dynamic context of the political and economic forces at work in Washington, D.C.,” said Charles Skuba, senior associate dean for custom executive education, Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. “I am delighted that McDonough School of Business and FIU Business can offer executives a great combination of expertise and experience in a customized International Business and Public Policy executive certificate program.”
Scheduled for September 9-13, the program begins at FIU Business in Miami, with courses on global business, innovation, leadership, strategy, supply chain management, and digital and social media. Also, the Miami part of the program includes a visit to Visa’s Innovation Center.
“The relevance and timeliness of this new program are significant,” said Jerry Haar, executive director of executive and professional education, FIU Business. “As the United States implements dramatic changes in its trade, investment, and financial policies, from a renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement, to tariff increases and sanctions against a number of countries, foreign businesses and investors are subjected to more regulation. Our aim to help business leaders and other professionals understand thoroughly the nexus between business and policy is what makes this program so unique.”
The second part of the program will be held at Georgetown McDonough in Washington, D.C., and will cover foreign market development, business promotion, and trade and investment within the Americas. Participants will visit the Inter-American Development Bank and Capitol Hill, in addition to meeting with business associations and advocacy organizations.
