Jeff Reid Recognized as United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship Longenecker Fellow

Jeff Reid, founding director, Georgetown Entrepreneurship, recently was recognized by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) as a Justin G. Longenecker Fellow. Reid is one of only 87 Longenecker Fellows honored since 1986 for making an outstanding contribution to the development, furthering and benefit of entrepreneurship.

“I am honored to be recognized as a Longenecker Fellow,” said Reid. “It is truly humbling to join the ranks of the fellows, many of whose work I have long admired and had the privilege of working alongside over the years. They represent some of the very best scholars and educators leading the field of entrepreneurship around the world.”

Reid’s creative work in pedagogy has been recognized at USASBE multiple times with major awards. Among others, his work has been recognized through the National Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education (2004) and the National Award for Innovative Entrepreneurship Pedagogy (2018). His service to USASBE has also been extensive, including service as senior vice president for development during a critical time when USASBE was emerging from financial challenges.

“His recognition as a Longenecker Fellow serves as the culmination of the respect and admiration he has earned from his peers in his field,” said Jill Kickul, current president, USASBE.

“This is a welcome milestone in his journey with USASBE,” said Julienne Shields, CEO, USASBE, “Fellows continue to be vital mentors to our members seeking guidance with their careers and endeavors within the field.”

Founded in 1981, USASBE is a national organization whose stated mission is advancing entrepreneurship education through bold teaching, scholarship and practice. Membership is open to all, as is attendance at USASBE’s hallmark annual conference. USASBE also publishes a peer-reviewed academic journal, Entrepreneurship Education & Pedagogy, and develops a variety of helpful resources and professional development opportunities for entrepreneurship educators as they create a positive impact.
