Meet the Class of 2021: Mwemba Mwemba Jr. (MBA’21)

Mwemba Mwemba Jr. (MBA’21)
Hometown: Midland, Michigan

What are your post-graduate plans?

I will be joining AbbVie’s Commercial Leadership Program in Chicago, Illinois.

What is your favorite memory or proudest moment from your time at Georgetown?

It was an honor being selected by my peers to be the student speaker for the Full-time Class of 2021 at commencement. From getting waitlisted, to not getting admitted into Georgetown McDonough, to reapplying, to being selected as student speaker — it’s my hope that my story can serve as inspiration for those seeking to change their life trajectory. To those folks, I would say that life isn’t linear, but your moment is coming. Keep working!

Is there a particular person that helped shape your Georgetown experience into what it is today?

Anne Kilby, assistant dean, MBA Admissions, is the personification of Georgetown’s values. She is an incredible human being who graciously offered me guidance and encouragement throughout my MBA application process and during my two years at Georgetown McDonough. The way that Kilby carries herself, sincerely advocates for and champions students, and continually puts others before herself is admirable and inspiring. She’s had a tremendous impact on my life and I’m grateful to call her a mentor and a friend.

What was your favorite class?

Finance 550: Financial Markets & Corporate Decision Making.

What are you most looking forward to as an alumna?

I’d like to play a more integral role in helping to recruit more diverse candidates to the Hilltop. I intend to immediately begin building a bridge from the 312 to the Beltway!
