Matthew Cypher

Matthew L. Cypher brings more twenty years of industry real estate experience to Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, where he teaches as a professor of the practice, directs the school’s Steers Center for Global Real Estate and oversees the recently launched, M.S. in Global Real Assets degree program. He joined Invesco’s real estate acquisitions group in 2005 and served in a variety of roles including director of underwriting and disposition officer. Additionally, he was responsible for the valuations group, which marks to market Invesco’s North American portfolio. Cypher also was a member of Invesco’s Investment Committee and Investment Strategy Committee. He currently serves on the board of directors for Global Medical REIT (NYSE: GMRE) where he chairs the nominating and governance committee. His written work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Property Research, and Urban Affairs Review. He also has written for trade-level publications including Urban Land and The Institutional Real Estate Letter. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from Texas A&M and a B.S from The Pennsylvania State University.
