LGBT Initiatives

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance (GALA) serves the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) community at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business and their supporters. The organization incorporates both social and professional initiatives aimed at fostering a supportive environment for professional development, providing a forum for the discussion of business issues related to sexual orientation, and facilitating social interaction and networking among students, alumni, and professionals.

In 2008, seven of our Full-Time MBA students organized and executed the Reaching Out LGBT MBA Conference, held here in Washington, DC.  Reaching Out is the world's premier conference for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students earning their MBAs.  Approximately 900 students, business leaders and recruiters participated in the conference, which turned out to be the largest Reaching Out Conference ever.

Women's Initiatives

Women are active leaders in the Georgetown MBA Full-Time Program representing approximately 30% of the MBA Class of 2010, 5% higher than the national average.

Female Georgetown MBA Program students engage in the business community and build relationships through a variety of organizations including the Forte Foundation, the Women's Leadership Initiative, the Women in Business Forum, and the Georgetown chapter of the National Association of Women MBAs.

Minority Initiatives

Many of Georgetown’s  Student Organizations, such as the Hispanic and Latin American Student Association and the South Asian Business Alliance, provide minority students an opportunity to build relationships with fellow students who share their background as well as foster inclusivity and build the cultural awareness necessary for success in global business.

Military Initiatives

Students enrolling in Georgetown’s MBA Full-Time Program from the military are equipped with strategic thinking skills and hands-on leadership experience.  The Georgetown Veterans Club provides programs to help students with military backgrounds transition into the private sector environment and apply their experience to careers in business. Services include hosting military-friendly recruiters and assisting with résumé preparation
