Frequently Asked Questions

Should a prospective applicant attend an Information Session?
Yes. Information Sessions introduce prospective students to detailed information about Georgetown’s MBA Evening Program from administrators, faculty and current students. They also provide a forum in which to questions and meet people who are knowledgeable about the program. Most MBA Evening Programs Information Sessions run approximately 90 minutes.

Does the MBA Evening Program and the MBA Full-Time Program offer the same curriculum and degree?
Yes. The same faculty cover the same academic content. Students in the MBA Evening Program receive an identical degree to students in the MBA Full-Time Program.

Georgetown’s MBA Evening Program is designed for working professionals who will continue their employment while earning their degree over the course of three years instead of two.

Should a prospective applicant take classes in preparation for the program?
Applicants to Georgetown’s MBA Evening Program are expected to demonstrate the ability to succeed in quantitative coursework. Applicants may enroll in community or local college courses if extra preparation is needed. It is up to the applicant to demonstrate potential for quantitative success.

How do students get to class?
The Georgetown University Transportation System shuttle bus (GUTS Bus) operates between the campus and Metro stops at Dupont Circle and Rosslyn. Students driving to campus may use the Southwest Garage (#41 on map) on campus which is accessible via Canal Road. The garage costs $3 after 5 P.M. and is a very short walk away from the  Rafik B. Hariri Building . Street parking around campus is limited.

Does Georgetown accept transfer credits?
The Georgetown MBA Evening Program does not accept transfer credits for incoming students from other colleges or universities.

Will I be able to enroll in a joint degree program?
Students in Georgetown’s MBA Evening Program are not eligible for joint degree programs.

Is it possible to transfer from Georgetown’s MBA Evening Program to the MBA Full-Time Program (or vice versa)?
No.

Does an incoming student need a laptop computer?
Laptops are required. There is no specific type required for the Georgetown MBA Evening Program, but the computer must run Windows XP. The computing center has an agreement with Computerware of Vienna, Virginia to sell and support IBM laptops, though it is not necessary to purchase a computer through Computerware to receive support. Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business recommends IBM computers and discourages the use of Apple computers. View a complete discussion of computer recommendations here.

Is the GMAT mandatory?
Yes, all applicants to the MBA Evening Program must submit official GMAT results. GMAT scores are valid for five years. Be sure to have your scores sent to the MBA Evening Program office, code JT7-G0-64, formerly (5281).

Is an interview required?
Interviews are by invitation of the Admissions Committee only. Following the submission of a complete application, applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview if the Admissions Committee determines one is necessary.

Is financial aid available?
