Doreen Amorosa, Associate Dean and Managing Director, MBA Career Center
As the associate dean and managing director of the Georgetown MBA Career Center, Doreen Amorosa serves as the faculty liaison and is responsible for managing the MBA Career Center strategy and team direction, as well as student, faculty, alumni, and university relationships within the McDonough School of Business. In addition to these efforts, Amorosa manages recruiting strategies, networking opportunities, and employer relationship development globally.
Prior to her career at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, Amorosa served as the vice president for global recruitment and workforce planning at American Express, where she managed the recruitment strategy both within the United States and globally. Her experience also includes serving as the vice president of resourcing at ICI; director of talent acquisition at Avaya; and more than 20 years of experience working with Merrill Lynch, where she oversaw recruitment, staffing, diversity initiatives, and HR policy. Amorosa holds an MBA from Seton Hall University and earned a BSBA degree in management from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Throughout the last half of her corporate experience, Amorosa was a member of the McDonough School of Business Board of Advisors.
Patty Buchek, Senior Assistant Dean, MBA Career Center
Patty Buchek serves as the assistant dean of the MBA career curricula, overseeing MBA Full-time and MBA Evening Program career education. As a member of the core faculty, Buchek delivers original material in both classroom and workshop formats. Her insights into professionalism and career advancement stem from her own professional foundations in search, placement, and human resource management. Since 2003, Buchek has committed her expertise to the inspiration and career preparation of emerging global business leaders and gears content to this specific audience. She holds an Executive Master’s in Leadership from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, a Bachelor of Arts in honors philosophy and politics from Catholic University, and she is a Certified Career Management Coach.
Laura Kapelski, Senior Assistant Director, MBA Career Curricula
As senior assistant director, Laura Kapelski offers her expertise in career development, supporting the MBA Career Center career curricula. As part of the curricula team, Kapelski designs and executes career specific workshops and courses including a job search course, promotions course, executive presence course, and professional development series. Prior to joining the Georgetown MBA Career Center, Kapelski worked as a career consultant in George Mason University’s School of Management Career Services, where she managed internship programs and coached undergraduate business students. She earned an M.S. in college student personnel from Miami University in Ohio and a B.A. in political science and communication studies from the University of Iowa.

Leonard Canny, Operations Coordinator
As the operations coordinator, Lenny Canny manages logistics and provides support to the MBA Career Center in the areas of recruitment coordination, events logistics, communications, deliverables management, and resources support. Canny received a B.S. in international business and operations and information management from Georgetown University. He has interned with Catholic Relief Services and FINCA International, aiding them in the development of knowledge management and information sharing techniques.

Elizabeth Orbison, Senior Manager of Operations
As the senior manager of operations, Beth Orbison oversees the operations of the MBA Career Center which supports all graduate MBA program students and alumni at the McDonough School of Business. The operations team ensures that career center services are delivered efficiently and without interruption. Prior to joining the Georgetown MBA Career Center, Orbison worked for eight years as a corporate and non-profit paralegal where she honed her natural talent for organization and operational efficiency through directing complex processes, teams, and negotiations. She earned a B.A. in history from the College of William and Mary. In 2014, she earned her MBA from the McDonough School of Business.

Sam Skardon, Manager of Data and Business Intelligence
As the manager of data and business intelligence, Sam Skardon is responsible for the administration of MBA Career Center knowledge systems, data, and user support. This position creates actionable intelligence from student and employer data to help the Career Center provide the most efficient and effective career services. Prior to joining the Georgetown MBA Career Center, Skardon worked on several political campaigns and as an aide on Capitol Hill, where he managed large data sets used to provide constituent services and make strategic decisions. A native of Charleston, S.C., he earned a B.A. in history from Emory University in 2010 and expects to earn an MBA from Georgetown in 2015.

Karen Kouagou, Associate Director Energy & Cleantech, Government, Not-for-Profit/Social Impact, and International Development
Karen has a broad international consulting background primarily in human resources in both corporate and nonprofit organizations, most recently as an executive recruiter at the World Bank. Throughout her career – which has spanned temporary staffing, executive search, private sector, multinational and outplacement companies – Karen has specialized in recruitment and training. Fluent in French, her global perspective has been enhanced by experiences as a host family, university exchange student, and expatriate. Karen holds a Master’s degree in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University and a Bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary. Karen is the Co-Founder of the Benin Education Fund (BEF), a 501(c)3 organization that supports needy students in West Africa.

Larry Verbiest, Associate Director Consulting Industry
Larry is the associate director who leads relationship building with employers and students interested in consulting. Larry joined the Georgetown MBA Career Center following a 22-year career as an officer in the U.S. Army, more than seven years in consulting with Booz Allen Hamilton, and subsequently as the executive director of a nonprofit organization. Highlights of his military service included being assigned to the staff and faculty at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York and commanding a tank battalion at Fort Knox, Kentucky. At Booz Allen Hamilton, he led interdisciplinary teams of consultants on contracts within the human capital and health markets and he was very involved with employee recruiting. Larry holds a B.S. from the United States Military Academy, an M.A. in International Policy Studies from Stanford University, and an MPA from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He also completed a Change Management certification program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

Angela Williams, Associate Director Consumer Goods & Retail, Entrepreneurship, and Healthcare Industries
Angela serves as the associate director focused on careers in Consumer Packaged Goods, Healthcare, Retail, and Entrepreneurship. Angela spent her 15 year career in marketing working internationally and domestically for companies like Procter & Gamble, Kraft (Nabisco), GlaxoSmithKline, and Capital One, where she managed brands and created new products and services. Angela earned her BS in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University and her MBA in Marketing and Management from New York University where she was a Consortium Fellow.

Eric Young, Director Entertainment, Media and Sports, Manufacturing and Transportation, and Technology
As the director who leads relationship building with employers and students interested in the technology, entertainment, media and sports, and manufacturing and transportation industries, Eric Young oversees student career and undecided coaching, job search strategies, vision clarification, industry exploration, and student club relations. When working with industry employers, Young manages employer relations and development, recruitment strategies, alumni relations, faculty partnerships, employer feedback, and networking. Young joined the Georgetown MBA Career Center following a 20-year international career at Accenture, where he began as a technology consultant and ultimately served as the HR director for Accenture's Global Corporate Functions, leading career development and people initiatives for 15,000 individuals across 12 corporate functions in 52 countries. Young holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Maryland and an M.A. in organizational management from The George Washington University.
