What is the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program?
The Master of Science in Global Real Assets (Master of Science in Global Real Assets) is a 10-month, full-time, in-person program offered by Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. How does the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program differ from an MBA?
The Master of Science in Global Real Assets program provides a targeted focus on real assets in 10 months, whereas an MBA offers a broader education in general management and leadership typically in an 18-24 month time frame. While MBA programs are ideal for students seeking to explore multiple industries or leadership roles across sectors, the Master of Science in Global Real Assets is best suited for those who want to specialize in real estate, infrastructure, and other real asset investments.

How is the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program different from the Master of Science in Finance (MSF)?
While both programs provide strong foundations in finance, the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program focuses specifically on real estate and infrastructure investments, whereas the MSF program is centered on corporate finance and investment banking. Students in the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program gain experience with tools such as ARGUS, Excel, and underwriting models.

How is this different from other real estate degrees?
Unlike many real estate degrees housed in architecture or urban planning schools, the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program is offered through Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business and emphasizes the financial and investment aspects of global real assets. The program includes coursework in real estate, infrastructure, and energy transition—making it broader in scope than a typical real estate-only degree. It also incorporates sustainability as a core component of the curriculum.

Who is the ideal candidate for the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program?
The program is designed for early professionals  with 0–8 years of work experience. Ideal candidates are curious, motivated, and interested in building a long-term career in real asset investing. Students do not need to have prior experience in real estate to be successful in the program.

Is this the same as Georgetown’s online Real Estate program?
No, the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program is a different program offered fully in person through Georgetown’s top ranked McDonough School of Business, in partnership with the Steers Center for Global Real Assets.The Master’s in Real Estate is offered through the School of Continuing Studies, which is available in an online or hybrid format.

Can I work full time while enrolled in the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program?
While you cannot work full time, some students do work part time or complete internships during the program. Classes take place two days a week, which gives students flexibility to balance part-time work or internships with their studies.

Is the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program a real estate degree or an infrastructure degree?
The Master of Science in Global Real Assets is both. The curriculum is designed to give students expertise in real estate and infrastructure investing, along with training in financial modeling and sustainability. The program offers a broad perspective on global real assets, with the investment side at its core.

How does the program incorporate practical learning?
The Master of Science in Global Real Assets program integrates hands-on learning through real-world simulations, industry clinics, and case-based projects. For example, students analyze and underwrite real deals—such as multifamily housing and commercial properties—using industry-standard documents and financial models. These practical experiences prepare students to apply their skills directly in the workplace.

What types of financial aid are available?
Merit-based scholarships are available and awarded during the admissions process. The program offers several levels of scholarship support, with most awards covering between 5% and 15% of tuition. In addition, a limited number of competitive Steers Scholars awards are offered covering 50% of tuition and include personalized mentorship opportunities.

Are full scholarships available?
The program does not currently offer full scholarships. However, partial tuition awards and merit-based scholarships are available to qualified applicants.

Will I get hands-on experience in real estate underwriting?
Yes, the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program offers significant hands-on experience. Students underwrite a variety of real asset type deals including data centers, shopping centers, and infrastructure assets like toll roads and energy projects. Coursework includes real-world case studies, sustainability metrics, and financial simulations.

Will I learn how to use ARGUS?
Yes, the program includes instruction in ARGUS Enterprise, the industry-standard software for real estate financial modeling. This tool is integrated into relevant coursework to ensure students graduate with practical, job-ready skills.

How much finance is included in the curriculum?
Finance is a central component of the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program. Students study topics such as capital structure, asset valuation, quantitative modeling, and multifamily development math. While the program touches on development-related concepts, it is designed to train future investors, not developers.

Does the program offer on-campus recruiting?
The Master of Science in Global Real Assets program does not offer formal on-campus recruiting. However, students have access to career fairs, employer networking events, and personalized career coaching. The program also partners with a real estate search firm to offer the JL Access program, which provides real estate–specific career resources. Students also benefit from the broader McDonough School of Business alumni network, including MBA, MSF, EMBA, MiM, and undergraduate programs.

What kinds of jobs do Master of Science in Global Real Assets program graduates pursue?
Graduates of the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program pursue careers in real estate private equity, asset management, real estate finance, and infrastructure investing. Alumni have secured positions at leading firms such as Marriott International, Starwood Capital, Capital One, PGIM Real Estate, and other top-tier real estate and investment companies.

Are job opportunities limited to Washington, D.C.?
No, job opportunities are not limited to the Washington, D.C. area. While students benefit from the proximity to D.C.’s real estate and policy ecosystem, alumni have gone on to work in cities such as New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and others.

What is the Steers Center for Global Real Assets?
The Steers Center is an academic and professional hub within the McDonough School of Business that supports the Master of Science in Global Real Assets program. It provides students with access to an industry-informed curriculum, alumni and employer engagement opportunities, and real-world case studies that enhance learning.

What is the Jackson Lucas partnership?
Jackson Lucas is partnered with the McDonough School of Business and Steers Center for Global Real Assets to offer the JL Access program.
