Future Real Assets Leaders Join Georgetown’s Class of 2026

Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business recently welcomed 31 students to its growing M.S. in Global Real Assets (GRA) program. They will spend the next 10 months exploring investment strategies at the intersection of real estate, infrastructure, and energy transition. Offered in partnership with the Steers Center for Global Real Assets, the program provides an innovative curriculum addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities in the real assets sector.

Designed for early career professionals, the year’s incoming cohort brings strong academic and professional experience. Students have an average GPA of 3.4 and an average of three years of work experience. The class has an average age of 26 and includes a mix of backgrounds in business, economics, engineering, and the social sciences.

“This year’s class reflects the quality of professionals drawn to the GRA program, who are motivated and ready to engage with the complexities of an evolving industry,” said Matthew Cypher, Atara Kaufman Professor of the Practice and director of the Steers Center. “Over the next year, they will deepen their expertise, expand their networks, and position themselves to influence and drive the investment, development, and implementation of resources in the built environment.”

Students in the program’s third cohort bring new global perspectives to the classroom, with 29% students holding international citizenship, up from 17% last year. They represent 27% U.S. diversity.

“The strength of the GRA program lies in the perspectives our students bring from different markets, industries, and life experiences,” said Nita Swinsick, associate dean for graduate and executive program admissions at Georgetown McDonough. “By engaging with classmates who approach these concepts from a variety of global and professional vantage points, students gain a richer, more practical understanding of how to operate in a complex and interconnected real assets landscape.”

The GRA is a first-of-its-kind program designed to meet the needs of an evolving industry. Pulling on the strengths of Georgetown McDonough and the connections of the Steers Center, students gain access to the school’s top-ranked business education and faculty expertise, exposure to global real estate and infrastructure companies, and intentional experiential programming – including a structured mentorship program to gain meaningful investment insights from industry experts, guest lectures, and networking events. The program culminates in a global capstone project, which takes students abroad to network and explore innovative real estate and infrastructure investments in another part of the world.

With career readiness at the heart of the program, the Steers Center recently announced an exclusive partnership with Jackson Lucas (JL) – a specialized real estate search firm – to expand career opportunities for GRA students, including access to employer networks, industry-specific career fairs, and immersive career workshops.

Situated in the heart of Washington, D.C., at Georgetown’s new Capitol Campus, GRA students also gain unparalleled access to industry leaders, policymakers, and regulators. They join a growing community of students interested in real estate and have the opportunity to join specialized student clubs, social activities, and industry-specific events hosted by the Steers Center.
