Georgetown Announces Kosoy Women in Business Program
To support the advancement of women in the workplace, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business has announced the launch of the Kosoy Women in Business program to offer professional development opportunities for students in the Undergraduate Program. The initiative is made possible by the generosity of Brian and Andrea Kosoy (P’25), who will support a select number of students throughout the academic year for transformational leadership development, skill-building, and growth.
Beginning in Fall 2024, the program will deliver tailored programming for the inaugural cohort of Kosoy Women in Business students, which will include a variety of workshops, speaker series, site visits, professional dinners, and other opportunities to learn from top business executives about their perspectives on gender in the workplace. Students will explore topics such as self-advocacy, negotiation, personal finance, and more to gain tangible and practical skills to address common challenges women face in business.
“Women leaders enrich our business community and drive success for organizations across the globe, and we want to ensure they feel empowered to leverage their talents and lead with confidence during their time at Georgetown and beyond,” said Patricia Grant, senior associate dean of the Undergraduate Program at Georgetown McDonough. “We are grateful to the Kosoy family for their commitment to this mission as we shape future generations of women to be high-capacity leaders in business.”
With 41% of women in the recent incoming undergraduate business class, the Kosoy Women in Business program seeks to harness the potential of a rising class of women students as a way to bridge leadership gaps, increase the representation of women business leaders, and provide exposure to a range of voices in the industry. The program builds on the momentum of existing undergraduate women-focused student clubs, including McDonough Women and Smart Women Securities, to help women grow and develop across business industries.
“Through professional development workshops, mentorship, and engagement with women leaders in business, the Kosoy Women in Business program will be an impactful resource for advancing women’s workplace issues for our entire community,” said Christy Murray, associate dean and managing director of the McDonough Career Center. “This program reinforces our Jesuit value of cura personalis, or care for the whole person, to ensure each student receives tailored support that is unique to their circumstances, background, and professional goals.”
The Kosoy Women in Business program is open to all McDonough undergraduate students interested in advancing topics related to women in the workplace. Current first-years, sophomores, and juniors are eligible to apply for the 2024-2025 pilot cohort. Learn more and apply by April 10, 2024, on the Kosoy Women in Business webpage.
