Georgetown McDonough’s Psaros Center Hosts Second Annual Undergraduate Stock Pitch Competition

The Psaros Center for Financial Markets and Policy recently hosted its second annual Undergraduate Stock Pitch Competition. The event is an opportunity for Georgetown undergraduate students to present their long-term stock buys to a panel of industry professionals and Hoya alumni. The panel included Tom Bianco (B’77) of Bianco Management, Alisa Guyer Galperin (MBA’04) of Norges Bank Investment Management, and Sean Kumar (MBA’19) of Humbucker Management.

“One of the reasons Georgetown students are sought after is because of campus opportunities like the Psaros Center Stock Pitch Competition,” said Lee Pinkowitz, associate director of student engagement at the Psaros Center for Financial Markets and Policy. Pinkowitz added that, “these kinds of hands-on opportunities connect students with leading alumni and industry participants who want to help the students succeed. They are in an environment that allows them to demonstrate what they are learning in the classroom while gaining skills they will use in their future professions, and they also win a cash prize along the way.”

During the competition, each student team showcased their entrepreneurial and research-based investment capabilities to the judges. The students received feedback on their presentations that can be applied in both their academic and professional lives. After two hours of presentations, the winning team, Fortinet, walked away with a cash prize of $2,500. Students were evaluated based on their investment thesis, quantitative and qualitative analysis, clarity of the presentation, their ability to field questions from the judges, and the likelihood the judges would invest.

This team included four undergraduate students:

  • Gabe Huang (B’26)
  • Tyler Lee (B’26)
  • Megan Ohlinger (B’24)
  • Hailey Walker (B’26)

Six teams were selected as finalists by the Georgetown University Graduate Investment Fund to compete in the Undergraduate Stock Pitch Competition. These teams pitched stock buys for Topgolf Callaway Brands, UFP Technologies, Target Hospitality, Fortinet, BSX, and Albemarle.

After the winners were announced, a reception was held to honor all of the finalists.
