CURRICULUM

The Georgetown MBA is a 60 credit program. In the MBA Evening Program, these credits are taken over the course of three years, including summers. In general, students take two classes at a time and attend class twice a week. In addition to regular classes, the curriculum includes four residency programs, illustrated by clicking here.*

The fall and spring semesters are comprised of two modules, each 7 weeks in length. Students will take two courses in each module for a total of four each semester. In the summer, there is one regular 7-week module and one shortened 3 ½-week module. In the first year, Management Communications will be offered in the shortened summer module but may include preparatory programming throughout the academic year. Students will take only one course during the shorter summer module. In the summer of the third year, students finish after one 7-week module. After each module, there is one week for exams and at least one week off without classes or exams.

Electives may be chosen from a variety of courses in Accounting, Decision Sciences & Operations, Entrepreneurship & Technology, Finance, International Business, Management, Marketing, and Strategy. On a case by case basis, students may request permission to take courses outside of the McDonough School.

Residencies:

Fundamentals of Global Business

Students are introduced to the Case Method during this 4-day residency taking place primarily off campus in the Washington D.C. metro area. Students work in teams to analyze a live business case. The highlight of the residency is a case competition in which students present their analysis and recommendations.

Innovation

This on-campus residency focuses on industry and functional area preparation for students midway through their MBA experience. Emphasis is on market and industry trends and techniques and communication skills.

Leadership

Entering the final year of the program, students participate in a self-assessment and further develop their negotiating, decision-making, interviewing, networking, and personnel management skills.

Globalization

Students spend two modules working on a team-based live consulting project for an international company. Students apply all the business and analytical skills they have learned to provide executable solutions. The semester culminates with an on-site residency in a foreign city with presentations to company executives.
