Operations & Information Management

Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business offers an undergraduate concentration in operations & information management for students seeking a strong background in these fields of business.

The operations & information management concentration provides students with the technical expertise necessary for the management of manufacturing and service operations and information systems, as well as the leadership capacity to envision and implement new practices. Students gain a functional understanding of business information processes -- including designing a supply chain, managing information systems, developing databases, and creating informed decision-making models.

With an OPIM concentration, students will be able to approach technology issues from both a strategic direction and an analytic perspective.  This will open the door to career opportunities that exist in areas such as production and manufacturing operations, supply-chain management and logistics, risk analysis and management, information systems, and consulting.  The combination of technical skills and business acumen conveyed by the OPIM major is sought after by corporations and diverse business entities, government, and non profit employers.

Students completing this concentration develop a foundation of competence in both process analysis and information system design, and they are free to emphasize either field through elective course choices.

For an overview of the required courses in this concentration, consult the undergraduate course catalog here.
