Georgetown McDonough Places Second in Career Outcomes, Top 10 Overall in Poets&Quants Ranking
Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business continues to be recognized among the nation’s top undergraduate business programs, placing seventh overall in the latest Poets&Quants ranking.
Poets&Quants, a leading publication covering business education, evaluates schools across three equally weighted categories: admissions standards, academic experience, and career outcomes.
McDonough again ranked second in career outcomes, maintaining its position from last year and reinforcing the school’s ability to deliver strong employment results for graduates. The ranking incorporates employment data for recent graduates alongside alumni survey responses evaluating career preparation, extracurricular opportunities, and overall return on investment.
“We are focused on creating a transformative undergraduate experience that focuses on our students’ personal formation just as much as their business education,” said Patricia Grant, senior associate dean of Undergraduate Programs at Georgetown McDonough. “As we innovate and evolve over time, we aim to ensure our students graduate not only with strong career outcomes but also with the values, perspective, and skills to lead in a complex global business landscape.”
The McDonough Career Center, housed in the business school, provides students with one-on-one career coaching and assistance in securing internships and jobs, connecting with alumni, and accessing other career resources at Georgetown. Initiatives such as Host-a-Hoya, Fridays in the Field, and undergraduate mentoring continue to deepen connections between students and Georgetown’s global alumni network.
Georgetown McDonough’s undergraduate experience remains grounded in innovation, global perspective, and a values-based approach to business. Signature programs such as the Global Business Experience and the Global Business Fellows program provide students with hands-on consulting opportunities for organizations around the world, culminating in immersive, in-country presentations to business leaders.
Students also benefit from experiential learning embedded throughout the curriculum, including the First Year Seminar Social Impact Consulting Project, which engages students with Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organizations, as well as global case competitions that foster collaboration with peers from leading universities worldwide.
In recent years, McDonough has introduced new initiatives to further enhance the student experience, including the H.O.M.E. program, a four-year journey focused on belonging and career exploration, and a variety of immersive research opportunities to explore topics of interest and receive mentorship from faculty.
“We are driven by the experience we provide our students, the values they learn, and the success they achieve after graduation, and we continue to see that impact in powerful ways,” said Grant.
Georgetown McDonough is distinguished by its location in the global capital city of Washington, D.C., its access to the broader academic community within Georgetown University, and its values-based approach to business. Within the Undergraduate Programs, students gain a D.C. advantage with access to leaders and organizations spanning business, policy, government, diplomacy, nonprofits, and startups. Students complete the Georgetown liberal arts core curriculum in addition to their business studies to emphasize an interdisciplinary approach to education.
