Meet the Class of 2022: Yohanes Wahyudi (MSBA’22) on Leadership Skills and Social Responsibility

As the spring semester comes to a close, Georgetown McDonough is pleased to commemorate the accomplishments of the Class of 2022. This year’s graduating class demonstrated immense resiliency and determination to reach this milestone, and we are proud to recognize their achievements as they start their next chapter as Hoya alumni. To celebrate, Georgetown McDonough is spotlighting several of the exceptional students in the Class of 2022 as they share their personal stories, reflect on their time on the Hilltop, and preview what’s next after commencement.

At beginning of his final semester in the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program at Georgetown McDonough, Yohanes Wahyudi (MSBA’22) already set his future career in motion as the new vice president of investment banking for data science and analytics at Moelis & Company. Now, he hopes his experiences, skills, and friendships from the MSBA program will enhance his leadership skills in a new position and make a broader impact on the community.

What is your favorite memory or proudest moment from your time at Georgetown?

My fondest memory from Georgetown was the ability to spend time with my cohort exploring our campus and the surrounding community, and enjoying its rich history.

How do you plan to apply the skills you have learned at Georgetown in the next phase of your career?

I plan on applying the skills I’ve learned in the MSBA program to become a stronger leader in the community, as well as to enhance my current leadership role at work as the vice president of investment banking for data science and analytics at Moelis & Company – a role I started earlier this year.

What is one of the most important lessons you have learned while at Georgetown?

I’ve learned the importance of social responsibility and how one can apply it at the micro-level through individual contributions and broader impact on the community.

Is there a particular person in the Georgetown community that has been instrumental to your success?

Professor Lyon has been instrumental in my success. He is passionate about the topics he teaches and always provides relevant and practical solutions with real-world application. He is someone who is always willing to take the time to have engaging and solutions-oriented discussions on topics such as text analytics.

What are your post-graduate plans?

My post-graduate plan is to develop my leadership role further in my current position at Moelis & Company.

What advice would you give to the next class of Georgetown students?

One piece of advice that I wish I had learned earlier in the program is the importance of leveraging and relying on your cohort to further develop your skills and experience. I have built

strong bonds with my first team, and they are always the first people I can rely on for advice or anything related to my professional career.
