Announcing New Interdisciplinary Degree!
The McDonough School of Business and the Walsh School of Foreign Service now offer an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Business and Global Affairs (BSBGA) open by application in Spring 2020 to first-year students. The BSBGA features innovative signature courses taught by teams of McDonough and Walsh faculty and experiential learning in D.C. and around the world.
First Year Seminar
The First Year Seminar Program is an exciting way for first-year students at Georgetown McDonough to investigate the nature of scholarship, think about important ideas in business, and achieve intellectual and personal growth. Students will embrace learning and engage in discussions with their peers while exploring topics ranging from the evolution of business enterprise to patterns of global commerce.
BUILD (Business Undergraduates Invested in Leadership Development) is a week-long pre-orientation program for first-year business students that teaches the importance of effective communication, principled leadership, and integrated business knowledge. BUILD creates a larger pool of alumni who become leaders for diversity and inclusion within their field of work.
Smart Start Program
Smart Start is a signature program in partnership with PwC offering a series of workshops, panels, and events that equip a diverse pool of first- and second-year students with the tools for academic, personal, and professional success. In keeping with the Jesuit ideal of “women and men for others,” participants are mentored by peers and by Georgetown alumni who work at PwC.
Living and Learning Community
The Entrepreneurship Living and Learning Community offers incoming first-year students a unique opportunity to live, learn, and participate in activities that have an entrepreneurship focus. Students have access to entrepreneurship-related speakers and events and network with peers who share similar drive and ambition. The community is open to students of all schools.
The Peer Ambassador and Leadership Program utilizes the experiences, knowledge, and leadership skills of selected upper-class students to help new students transition to Georgetown McDonough. Peer Ambassadors meet with prospective students, help new students with registration, and act as a point of contact for any and all questions a new student may have.
Georgetown McDonough is proud to partner with the Escuela Superior de Administracion y Direccion de Empresas (ESADE), one of the world’s top business schools, located in Barcelona, Spain. Students complete two courses in English with expert lecturers, participate in Spanish and Catalan cultural seminars, and attend site visits to complement their coursework.
